What Does An Ideal Home Hospitality Partner Look Like?
Good looks different to us all, but this is what it looks like to us...
No-one is perfect, anywhere, but especially not hospitality, where budgets are tight and pressure is high. And never forget, everyone is largely winging it. Each persons idea of a good culture is different (see our previous Substack for more on this) BUT we are able to say what we think a ‘good’ business looks like and therefore explain what you can generally get if you work with us to find your next job.
1. Honesty & reflection.
Most importantly, over anything else, the ability to be reflective and upfront about what you need to improve, or things you could have done or could do better.
2. A people-first approach.
When we speak with a potential new partner, we can understand straight away whether their approach is people first. You can tell how much value they put on their team and the way they describe what they are looking for in a new recruit. It is often easy to hear when it is words and not actions.
3. Genuine care for the well being of the team.
This includes acknowledgement of any hours overworked (not just financial, but often time back) and a safe physical working environment with resources available to support with their mental wellbeing. Again, not just words, actions.
4. Good two way communication.
A good system in place for this, whether it is formal or informal.
5. Good quality food/drink.
We don’t only work with the coolest places to eat and drink, we have a lovely mix, but crucially it has to be good quality.
And that’s it. If you have these things in place then you are doing a great job when it comes to culture. We are not unrealistic about the challenges that come with being an owner in 2025, it is a f*cking rollercoaster, but these points above are free to do and take little to no extra time.
